Studio Octopi undertakes private residential refurbishment and new build homes. For a triangular site included in the Piano Pavia-Masera, bounded by buildings built from the beginning of the 20th century to the Seventies, this project seeks to create a distinctly contemporary apartment building.

The concept of ‘hedonistic sustainability’ by Bjarke Ingels is nowhere more evident than his Danish waste-to-energy plant that has ski slopes on the roof. Two motorized wind catchers are placed close to the roof on the southern side with flaps that open out perpendicular to the wall and help draw in the ambient breeze into the interiors. The scenario on the inside is completely different however, as 5 different levels are created on either side of a central void space acting as a contiguous link with the street in both a visual and sensory manner. The building solves the issue of the street relationship, without a construction along the boundaries of the block.
