Georgia Bell's coaches believe she can go on to win an Olympic gold medal and break the world record following her brilliant bronze in the 1500 metres.

The 30-year-old smashed Laura Muir's British record with a time of 3min 52.61sec to finish third in a thrilling final in Paris on Saturday night.

Bell had to take a sabbatical from her full-time job in cyber security to fulfil her Olympic dream, having only returned to athletics two years ago after running a fast Parkrun.

Now her coaching team of Trevor Painter and Jenny Meadows believe the best is still to come for late bloomer Bell, as they eye further success at the next Games in Los Angeles in 2028.

‘She is 30 but Kelly Holmes was 34 when she did the double gold at Athens 2004,' said Painter, who also coaches Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson.

Bell only returned to the world of athletics after running an impressive time during a Parkrun

‘She is very lightly raced and she has had a lot of years out of the sport so her body is not hanging on like some people at her age.'

Bell is due to return to her office job at Abnormal Security in London next month having been off since May.

Her time in the Olympic final was the 11th fastest in history and took almost four seconds off her previous personal best, also set in Paris, last month.

The world record in the women's 1500m is 3min 49.04sec, set by Faith Kipyegon, who won gold in an Olympic record on Saturday.

But Meadows added: Kampus Terbaik ‘I know 3:49.0 is a little bit in front of 3:52.6 but never say never for anything.'
